It is predicted the that a major social networking site will go 3D soon.   This would be a turning point for virtual learning experiences.     In my opinion, non formal learning platforms would greatly benefit from this transformation.   Interaction between digital communities will be redefined.   It is hard to determined the magnitude of change that will occur as a result of this change.
